EVENT DESCRIPTION

Plein Air workshop
with Gene Costanza

April 11-13,2010 from 9am-4pm

The purpose of this workshop is to explore and expand your knowledge and execution of the key fundamentals of good painting.

The class will begin with a short presentation which introduces and/or reinforces the basics of getting started on a painting, whether in the studio or in the field. Gene follows closely the tenets of John F. Carlson and his insistence that the student (whatever the experience level) adheres to strong fundamental principles.

We progress into exercises designed to equip the student with skills that will be useful in continuing their growth toward their individual goals.

As much time as possible is spent with individuals at their easels in one-on-one mentoring given the variables of location, weather and class size.

Gene will demo and paint alongside, reinforcing the tenets mentioned above.

STUDENTS should acquire John F. Carlson’s Guide to Outdoor Painting and read it. It has been reprinted in paperback and is affordable. At the minimum, chapter 3 is required reading prior to the workshop.

Students should also be familiar with their equipment and have set up their easels so they are comfortable with the process. Most importantly, be prepared to work hard and have fun!

Maximum registration is 15 people. First come, first served.
Cost: $375 per person
Registration deadline is March 12, 2010.
