New at the Morean
Pathways to Learning
This fall, in response to many student requests, we have created two ”learning pathways” in education: one in drawing and painting and one in photography. We have identified a recommended series of classes which, if completed, should provide you with a solid foundation in your chosen medium.
Drawing + Painting Studies
Discover the artist within and develop basic skills in drawing, painting, and mixed media. Build fundamental skills in drawing such as line, tone, and perspective. Study the basics of painting with acrylic or oil. Learn to develop personal style and visual voice.
Program Overview
This new program is designed to guide students in the development of vital skills in drawing and painting while exploring the intimate relationship between the two. With this new approach, and in the context of a structured studio environment, we offer a series of classes to provide a solid foundation in the subject while providing tools for self-expression. The result is the ability to successfully represent any subject and to become self-directed to work independently as an artist.
Art 102
Instructor: Melissa Hunt
6:30pm to 9:30pm
Try your hand at clay, mixed media, casting, and sculpting in 3-D design. Explore a variety of mediums and create in four different art forms. Every two weeks will be a new adventure. This class is offered in Fall 2 on Wednesdays. See the Sculpture section for more details.
Family Programming
Thursdays at the Morean
Beginning in October, join us every second Thursday of the month for an Art Adventure experience. We’ll begin the day with a parent/child program that includes a hands-on art activity that connects to our current gallery exhibits. In the afternoon we offer Art Adventures for ages 5 through 9 including our Chihuligan Art Club where children can come and learn about glass artist, Dale Chihuly, and other artists who work in glass. See the Special Family Programming section for more details.
Saturdays at the Morean
Family Art Studio

Visitors of all ages are invited to drop-in for a new art adventure the first Saturday of each month. No advance registrations are required. Stop by and spend some quality time with your family and friends. See the Special Family Programming section for more details.
